“Arkansas (pronounced: /aʁ.kɑ̃(n).s̪a(s̪)/), Arkansas (/aʁ.kɑ̃.s̪a/), or simply Arcs (/ ɑɹk /), (pronounced in English: / ˈⱭɹkənsɔ /), is a state in the southern United States. Its capital and largest city is Little Rock, located in the center of the territory. With a population of 2,915,918 in 2010, estimated at 3,017,804 in 2019, Covering an area of 137,732 km2, the state is the 32nd most populous and the 29th largest in the country. Arkansas is surrounded by six states: Oklahoma to the west, Missouri to the north, Tennessee and Mississippi to the east, Texas to the southwest and Louisiana to the south. It is divided into 75 counties.
